Best Manuscript from a SASGOG Abstract Award

This award is for the best manuscript that originated from an abstract submitted and accepted for presentation at the SASGOG Annual Meeting.

SASGOG seeks to encourage SASGOG members whose abstracts are accepted at a SASGOG Annual Meeting to develop and publish manuscripts from their research abstract through a monetary award of $750.

  1. Eligibility:
    1. Manuscript accepted within a year from the SASGOG meeting date*
    2. Should be a SASGOG member and a student, resident, or junior faculty (within 5 years from graduation from residency training) at the time of the SASGOG meeting.
    3. Student, resident, or junior faculty should be the first or last author on the manuscript.
    4. Published in a PubMed – indexed journal
    5. Award applications accepted June 2024 – May 2025.

*For example – For abstracts presented at the 2024 Annual Meeting (May 2024), award applications will be accepted June 2024 – May 2025. Winner will be presented at the 2025 Annual Meeting.

2. Evaluation criteria:

    1. Potential to change clinical practice.
    2. Novelty of the idea.
    3. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
      • Subject matter impacting underserved patient populations.
      • Author is from the underrepresented group in medicine and science as defined by AAMC.

SASGOG Excellence in Research Award

This annual award is given to a SASGOG member who has published a paper in the calendar year preceding the submission deadline (August 2023 – July 2024).  The award recipient will receive a SASGOG Annual Meeting fee waiver for 2025.

  1. Eligibility:
    1. Manuscript publication date for 2024 – August 2023 – July 2024.
    2. Award applications accepted July 15 , 2024 – August 31, 2024.
    3. Applicant is a SASGOG member and the first or last author on the paper.
    4. Published in a PubMed – indexed journal.
  1. Evaluation criteria:
    1. Potential to change clinical practice.
    2. Novelty of the idea.
    3. Study design: Single vs. multi-institutional, appropriate power and statistical analysis.
    4. Submitting member is student, resident, early career member.
    5. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
        • Subject matter impacting underrepresented patient populations.
        • Author is from a group underrepresented in medicine and science as defined by AAMC.
