Best Manuscript from a SASGOG Abstract Award
SASGOG seeks to encourage SASGOG members whose abstracts are accepted at a SASGOG Annual Meeting to develop and publish manuscripts from their research abstract through a
monetary award of $750.
Eligibility
- Manuscript accepted within a year from the SASGOG meeting date*
- Should be a SASGOG member and a student, resident, or junior faculty (within
5 years from graduation from residency training) at the time of the SASGOG
meeting. - Student, resident, or junior faculty should be the first or last author on
the manuscript. - Published in a PubMed – indexed journal
- Award applications accepted June 2024 – May 2025.
*For example – For abstracts presented at the 2024 Annual Meeting (May 2024), award applications will be accepted June 2024 – May 2025. Winner will be presented at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
Evaluation Criteria
- Potential to change clinical practice.
- Novelty of the idea.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
- Subject matter impacting underserved patient populations.
- Author is from the underrepresented group in medicine and science as defined by AAMC.

SASGOG Excellence in Research Award
This annual award is given to a SASGOG member who has published a paper in the calendar year preceding the submission deadline (August 2024 – September 2025). The award recipient will receive a SASGOG Annual Meeting fee waiver for 2026.
Eligibility
To qualify for the award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Manuscript publication date: August 2024 – September 2025.
- Application period: September 8, 2025 – October 31, 2025.
- Authorship: The applicant must be a SASGOG member and the first or last author on the paper.
- Journal requirement: The paper must be published in a PubMed-indexed journal.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on the following:
- Impact on clinical practice – Potential to influence medical guidelines or patient care.
- Novelty – Innovation and originality of the research idea.
- Study design – Quality of research methodology, including:
- Single vs. multi-institutional study.
- Appropriate statistical analysis and power calculation.
- Applicant status – Preference may be given to students, residents, or early career members.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) considerations:
- Research subject matter impacting underrepresented patient populations.
- Author background – Consideration given to authors from groups underrepresented in medicine and science, as defined by AAMC.
