The Society of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology invites applications for the position of Vice Chair of Pearls of Exxcellence and Publications, an educational leadership role supporting SASGOG’s flagship clinical guidance series and its other publications.

Pearls of Exxcellence are concise, evidence-based clinical summaries designed to support academic OB/GYN specialists in delivering high-quality patient care and education. The Vice Chair plays a key role in ensuring the continued accuracy, relevance, and dissemination of these resources.
About Publications
SASGOG supports scholarly activity opportunities for its members which include writing and editorial opportunities for a variety of textbooks available in print. The Vice Chair would play a role in updating the committee on projects and progress along with facilitating discussions regarding future planning for current publications.
Position: Vice Chair, Pearls of Exxcellence and Publications
Role Summary
The Vice Chair supports the Chair in overseeing all aspects of the Pearls of Exxcellence program, including content development, revision cycles, author coordination, and strategic planning. In addition, the Vice Chair will liaison with any current textbooks or other publication teams currently active to provide support and update the committee regularly.
This position is ideal for an engaged academic OB/GYN with interest in medical education, evidence-based practice, and leadership within SASGOG. The Vice Chair is expected to transition into the role of Committee Chair in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Term length of two years followed by assumption of Chair role for a term of two years.
- Assist in the strategic direction, planning, and execution of the Pearls of Exxcellence program.
- Coordinate with authors, reviewers, and committee members to ensure timely updates and production of new Pearls.
- Oversee editing workflows and maintain consistency, quality, and accuracy in published materials.
- Collaborate closely with the Chair to enhance visibility, usability, and academic integration of Pearls.
- Coordinate with Chair and Board Liaison for regular committee and yearly board reports
- Actively participate in annual Committee self-assessment and continuous improvement.
- Prepare to assume the Chair role after a period of mentorship and onboarding.
- Participate in SASGOG committee meetings and contribute to organizational initiatives as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Previous or current service on a SASGOG committee, ideally including familiarity with the Pearls of Exxcellence program and existence of publications.
- Consistent availability for the committee’s bimonthly meetings.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including ability to manage timelines, coordinate contributors, and maintain structured workflows.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in the review and refinement of written educational materials.
- Proven interest in or experience with medical education, evidence-based content development, or editorial work.
- Commitment to serving in a future leadership role as Committee Chair.
