Brief description of the study: This study evaluates how frequently physicians discuss nutrition with perimenopausal and postmenopausal patients, the barriers and contexts of these discussions, providers’ confidence and training in nutrition counseling, the advice provided, and referral practices to dietitians or nutritionists.

Brief description of the study: Current guidelines restrict most laboring patients to clear liquids, yet evidence on the risks and benefits of oral intake during labor remains limited. This IRB-exempt, anonymous 10-minute survey of obstetric clinicians assesses current institutional practices, familiarity with existing professional guidelines, perceptions of clinical equipoise, and priorities among patient-centered outcomes for a planned multi-site pragmatic randomized trial comparing a standardized light diet versus clear liquids only in low-risk laboring patients with functioning neuraxial analgesia. Results will directly inform selection of the trial’s primary outcome. Participation is voluntary; no identifying information is collected, and responses cannot be linked to respondents.
